About Liz

Hi! Looking for more information about me?

My name is Liz and I created Road Across America to share the adventures that can literally be found all across the USA.

My family loves to road trip, and for the past 10 years we have traveled American roads in all directions, to all mainland states, as well as portions of Canada!

Our adventures have taken place in a red minivan that is "home" to us for several weeks every summer. We really delight in taking the road less traveled and stopping whenever we see something interesting. We often leave for a trip with just a general idea of where to go, and see where the American road takes us. We stop for the night when tired, finding a motel/hotel wherever we happen to be.

We've visited big cities, small towns and places remote enough to have no cell service! Beaches, deserts, plains, mountains and forests - we've seen it all! You really get a great sense of the history, geography and people across our nation when you visit it by car. And traveling across America on a road trip is a great way to make memories and see sites that are off the beaten path.

What places make us want to stop the car and visit an attraction?

We live in a big metropolitan city, so we have access to a lot of great museum and attractions in our home city. When we travel, instead we search for places that really unique – you can’t find them anyplace else in the United States, and you might not be able to find them anyplace else in the word!

My mom loves history and always tries to make sure we visit all the important places that will make our American history come alive.

Finally, we look for hidden gems – those places that not everyone knows about, but we are really thankful we found them!

About this site...

On this site you'll find some of our favorite places. Some you may have heard of, but there are many you probably won't know because they don't appear in most print and online travel guides, but they are still worth your visit! You won't often find lodging or restaurant recommendations here because the quality and operations of these can change quickly, but when included they are usually something historically or locally significant that you won't want to miss!

Have a place you think should be added to this site? I'd love to hear about it!
